SAFE ACEH! Please Vote, It Won’t Take Your Entire Time in Your Day, But It Will Help Us – The Human.

Aceh local government formulates Spatial Planning and National Territory [Rencana Tata Ruang dan Wilayah Nasional (RTRWN)] which reduces the area of forest in Aceh from 68 percent to 45 percent. That means that 1.2 million hectares of forest land conservation in Aceh will be cleared. The planning what will bring disaster to Aceh and the world. It will result in increased flooding, landslides, and the conflict between humans and animals.

Those lands will be converted into land mines.   Investors from Canada are planning to explore the protected forest touches. Even the Ministry of Forestry of Aceh, Zulkifli Hasan has been given the green light to them.

If they will execute this Forest Destruction, the impact will not come only to Indonesia, but also to the world. When we destroy forests, we add to climate change because forests trap carbon and help stabilize the world’s climate. When forests are trashed, the carbon trapped in trees, their roots and the soil is released into the atmosphere. Deforestation accounts for up to 20% of all carbon emissions. This is why Indonesia is the world’s third largest greenhouse gas emitter after the US and China. Five per cent of all global greenhouse gas emissions are now coming from Indonesia.

Forest is supposed to be the home to hundreds of distinct Indigenous languages and over 3,000 animal species including Sumatran tigers, pygmy elephants, rhinoceros and orangutans. Some of the world’s most rare animals and plants call the last remaining rainforests in our region home. As their habitats are destroyed, many face extinction.

This petition is started by Usmad Hamid. I don’t know who he is, I’ve never met him, but I agree with him. I have same concern with him. I am not from Aceh, but Aceh is the part of my earth, part of your earth too. I believe that any destruction what human gave to the earth will give us the calamity as return of what we have done to it. I have given 1 vote, but I know it is not enough. We need more votes to complete the petition.
